Writing Powerful Paragraphs

Last week, students reviewed how to write powerful paragraphs, strategies for generating ideas for personal narratives, the parts of a paragraph, what a topic sentence is and strategies for writing a strong topic sentence. Students wrote a short personal narrative and used class generated peer editing checklists to revise and edit their work.

This week, students are adding levels of details to their sentences to support their topic sentence. They are also exploring options and strategies for writing a well organized paragraph and essay. Next week, students will be writing a longer personal narrative piece to demonstrate their understanding of writing powerful paragraphs.
